About me

Growing up in the music scene of Nottingham and based in Leeds after graduating with First Honours in Jazz Guitar from Leeds Conservatoire, Pedraum has always been contributing of the creative scene around him. Developing his technique, musicianship, and network over the years as a guitarist has led him to continue performing at a wide range of venues across the UK. These include wedding receptions, music festivals, university graduations, fashion shows, ticketed music venues, bars/restaurants, and university department celebrations. Notable venues where I have played include The Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, Cheltenham and Leeds Jazz Festival, and Belgrave Music Hall & Canteen..

My love of composing and arranging music started at my sixth form college where I was musical director for the jazz big band orchestra. Continuing to study arranging/orchestration at university along with my love for R&B led me to write and arrange original music for R&B/Jazz singer Tiger Edison, leading our 8-piece band to perform and record our upcoming single releases on reel-to-reel. Since Autumn 2024, I have been organising a R&B Jam opening every event with a guest singer performing their original music with a house band. Currently the event is hosted at The Domino Club every month - so far we have had guest singers Tiger Edison, Angel Anya, Naomi Jazzmine and Cold Illumination

I also lead a jazz trio called 'The Viridian Trio' along with Jaden Hart (bassist) and Dom Neeson (Drummer).  We have performed at various jazz venues around the UK, including shows alongside the likes of the Tom Ollendorff Trio, Arun Ghosh, Rory Ingham/James Davison Sextet, Steve Hanley Quartet, and Yaatri. drawing on international influences from contemporary jazz musicians such as Reinier Baas, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and Tigran Hamasyan to fusing the eastern and western world of music with influence of Iranian traditional music  - played on the ‘Santour’, the origin of the Hammered Dulcimer

I also love composing/arranging music in the duo setting, experimenting with timbres of different instruments. One of my favourite duos is the one I am with cellist and relative Hoda Jahanpour. We intertwine cello, santour, guitar, tombak and vocals to perform our set of traditional Persian songs, arrangements of Arabic and Turkish melodies and collaborative compositions.
